FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

HOW DO I ORDER? WHERE CAN I FIND YOUR BAGELS AND OTHER ITEMS?

We will be at the Sustainable Nantucket Farmer's and Artisans Market in town on Saturdays during the season, offering a delivery option this year, and are planning on having some weekly pop-ups worked out soon as well.

Preorders are open from Monday at midnight to Thursday at midnight for deliveries, no exceptions. Order here!

For wholesale information, please see below.

WHERE CAN I FIND YOUR MENU?

Our menu is available on our website here as well as on our social media pages. We try to update our social media frequently with different specials we are running. If you are having trouble finding our menu, send us a message or email and we'd be happy to send you the latest copy.

DO YOU OFFER GLUTEN FREE ITEMS?

While we are considering offering some gluten-reduced items in the future, we are unable to offer fully gluten-free items. We do not work in a designated gluten-free kitchen and thus cannot guarantee any of our items are gluten-free. We recommend that anyone with Celiac disease or a severe gluten allergy refrain from consuming our baked goods, even gluten-reduced items or items without a gluten-containing ingredient (such as cream cheese).

DO YOU MAKE ANY VEGAN ITEMS?

Many of our baked goods are naturally vegan, such as our sourdough focaccia. Most of our bagels, except those topped or using dairy products (such as our cacio e pepe bagel, etc) are vegan.

Most of our cookies are not vegan, although we do offer a Vegan Chocolate Chip cookie weekly. Please refer to the menu or reach out to us for more details on ingredients for specific items.

HOW DO I KEEP MY PURCHASES FRESH?

We will be honest here: our bagels are best fresh. They are not designed to be soft and shelf stable for many days. They are best eaten within a couple days of purchasing, and should be kept in an airtight sealed bag or container to maintain freshness. Please note that any bagel that has salt or sugar may begin to get soft on the top, as the natural process of osmosis occurs. Keeping a small piece of paper towel or similarly absorbent material in with the bagels will help mitigate this.

If your bagel is more than a few days old and you are wondering if you can save it, the answer depends on how stale it is. If it is just a little too hard, you can save it by wrapping in a damp paper towel and microwaving for 10-20 seconds. If it is a little beyond that, we recommend J. Kenji Lopez Alt's method for Serious Eats, of rinsing a bagel under water for 30 seconds and then toasting to reheat. Read more about this controversial method here. Or, you can repurpose the bagels as croutons, bagel chips, or crostinis.

Cookies, bagel chips, and focaccia will last several days longer than bagels. Bagel chips will stay fresh for up to a month, most cookies will stay fresh for about a week, and focaccia will generally stay fresh for 3-5 days.

Cream cheeses, butters, and other spreads will be best before the expiration date, but may last up to a week past, depending on the spread.

WHAT ABOUT FREEZING YOUR BAKED GOODS?

We've had great success freezing our sourdough focaccia - put it in a resealable bag, put (flat) in the freezer, and then when you want to use it pull it out and let it thaw at room temperature overnight or put in an oven around 350 until fully thawed.
For cookies, as long as they are wrapped tightly or put in a bag, they will stay for several months in the freezer. Some people like to eat them straight from the freezer, others prefer to let it thaw for a few hours. Please note that the cornflakes in the cornflake caramel cookies, and the potato chips and pretzels in the kitchen sink cookies, may begin to get stale if kept in the freezer for more than 2 months.
For freezing bagels - for best results, freeze the bagels within a day or two of getting them, in a resealable bag. To thaw, pull out and keep at room temp overnight, or take the bagel from the freezer and bake it whole for a few minutes until thawed, then slice, toast, and enjoy as you normally would.

We strongly recommend against freezing spreads or bagel chips, as the moisture from the freezer would damage their integrity.

DO YOU SHIP ORDERS?

At this time we do not ship any orders, especially as many of our items are best fresh and would lose quality while in transit for a few days.

DO YOU TAKE SPECIAL ORDERS OR PREORDERS?

We currently take preorders for baked goods. You can find more information about preorders, pickups, and how to order here.

We are now taking special orders for parties, events, etc! Send us an email and we'll send you the special order form.

Please note: 7 days notice required, minimum order 3 dozen bagels/2 dozen cookies. We are not able to provide utensils/place settings, or include any accompaniments besides spreads at this time!

DO YOU DO WHOLESALE?

As of Spring 2024, we are working on obtaining a wholesale license! If you are interested in wholesaling from us, send us an email and we can work out the details and if it would be a good fit.

Feel free to contact us with any additional questions.
